RESERVING A BLOCK OF ROOMS
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO RESERVE A BLOCK OF ROOMS?
By blocking rooms for your wedding guests you are taking a specific quantity and type of
room out of the hotel's general inventory and holding them for your family and friends to
make their reservations. This process will temporarily hold these rooms out of inventory
until thirty (30) days prior to your groups arrival. Your family and friends will in
turn make individual reservations from your block.
WHEN SHOULD I BLOCK ROOMS FOR MY WEDDING GUESTS?
The best time to block your guests rooms would be as soon as you have a confirmed date
and space for your reception. If your wedding date is set for a summer weekend in June,
July, August, or September, it is crucial not to delay in setting aside your guestrooms.
The major festival weekends create rapid sell out dates and some weekends may already
be booked years in advance for large city-wide conventions. Some May though August
weekends require a two night minimum stay of Friday and Saturday night.
HOW WILL MY GUESTS MAKE THEIR RESERVATIONS?
The Astor Hotel will supply the bride and groom with a copy of the reservation letter,
which they will reproduce and distribute to their wedding guests by enclosing it with their
invitations.
Important Note: Most invitations are mailed four (4) to six (6) weeks prior to the wedding
date. When planning a summer wedding (June, July, August, September) it is imperative
that your guests receive the reservation information as soon as possible so that they may
make their room reservations prior to the thirty (30) day cut-off.
AM I FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ROOMS IN MY BLOCK THAT
WERE NOT RESERVED BY MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS?
The Astor Hotel does not ask for a deposit to hold a block of rooms. We simply release
whatever rooms have not been reserved thirty (30) days prior to your group's arrival date.
The only way you could become financially responsible for a room, is if you have
individually placed and guaranteed a reservation and do not cancel the reservation
twenty-four (24) hours prior to arrival. You would then be subject to a no-show penalty
for the first night's room and tax charges.
THE ASTOR BRIDAL SUITE (For receptions held at the Astor only)
The Astor Bridal Suite offers an elegant and spacious atmosphere whether used as a
bridal suite or hospitality room. The Astor Bridal Suite rents for $250.00 per night,
but is offered at half price, $129.00 on the night of the reception. If you have several out
of town guests that comprise twenty (20) or more paid guest rooms on the night of the
reception, the Astor Bridal Suite is complimentary.
